Border Control
Why
the Border Collie?
For
hundreds of years this breed of dog was bred and selected to work
livestock. They are valued for their endurance and intense
determination to meet the orders of their master along with an innate
herding instinct and boundless energy. Because of their remarkable
sensitivity, exceptional intelligence and obedient nature they can be
easily directed remotely by their master upon being specifically
trained for their respective task.
Our employment of Border
Collies has proven to be the best option for encouraging the Canada
goose to naturally relocate and to discourage them from frequent
visits. Since the breed closely resembles a wolf in two distinct areas:
stalking and what is known as “the stare”, it is recognized by the bird
as a true predator. An additional advantage is they will
never
harm a goose, only herd and chase as the breed did not evolve as a
retriever. For these reasons along with the aforementioned ones in the
previous section, it is the breed of choice for any goose population
problem found on all property types be it golf courses, farmland, city
parks, cemeteries, beaches, ponds, etc. The Border Collie is truly a
special breed in which one could say was born for this task.
